A history rooted in expertise and innovation.
In 2004, Connecture and Riverwood Solutions, two market leaders of Web-based sales and service automation solutions for the health insurance industry, combined to form Connecture, Inc. This merger has resulted in greater financial strength, expanded functionality of products, and an increase in the ongoing investments in product development and delivery activities, and improved service for our clients.

Connecture, Inc. began operations in August 1999 as SimplyHealth, the first online broker for health insurance plans that allowed consumers to comparison shop health plans based on their preferences of premiums, geography, physician networks, and more. This unique position propelled SimplyHealth to success and their customer base soon grew to over 5,000 accounts.

At the end of 2000, SimplyHealth was approached by 2 of the 20 largest insurers in the nation, HealthNet and PacifiCare, to license their cutting-edge Internet sales technology. Recognizing the huge market potential, a separate division was established within the company to focus on software development and installing the solution for insurance carriers. In 2001, this division became the primary business focus of the company and was renamed Connecture, Inc.
Riverwood Solutions' history at a glance.
Riverwood Solutions began in 1993 when Dan Maynard formed CCISoft. CCISoft developed sales automation applications, rating proposal systems, data warehousing solutions and renewal systems, as well as risk assessment and experience analysis systems. CCISoft was then acquired by Workscape, a provider of HR benefits and compensation administration solutions in 1999, and renamed iSolutions. Maynard ran the iSolutions division until 2001, when Workscape made a strategic decision to focus all of its resources on its core HR self service business. As a result, the key iSolutions management created Riverwood Solutions. Dan Maynard led Riverwood Solutions as President and CEO until its merger with Connecture.
The market leaders come together.
When Connecture and Riverwood Solutions merged, they decided to operate as Connecture, Inc., and since 2004, the company has grown nearly 40% and counts more than half of the top 20 health insurers as clients - including 43% of total Blues Plans.
Connecture leads the way in a post-healthcare reform environment.
As the post-healthcare reform landscape continues to emerge, Connecture is positioned to keep our clients and their customers ahead of the curve. We closely monitored the development of the March 2010 reform bill and began planning ways to address the needs and opportunities of the new distribution model. One outcome was ConsumerEdge, a suite of products and services to help consumers navigate the complexities of health insurance across various distribution channels.

The decision to increase the proportion of Americans covered by health insurance also meant that new distribution channels would need the products and services that make it happen. The acquisition of Insurint was an initial step to bring Connecture-quality automated health insurance distribution to brokers and agents. We also developed a suite of custom products and services that help state governments build their state health insurance exchanges. Wherever the U.S. system goes in the future, Connecture will be there, and so will you.
